GDCOC anti-mafia officers in Varna uncovered a cannabis grow operation at a private property in the village of Vetrino. The operation against the production and distribution of narcotics was carried out on 1 June 2026. The results were reported to a prosecutor at the Provadia Territorial Division of the Varna Regional Prosecutor’s Office. Pre-trial proceedings were opened under Article 354c(1) of the Criminal Code.
In the well-equipped cannabis-growing facility, 119 plants at an advanced stage of growth were found. Officers seized over 40 lamps and fans, turbines, dehumidifiers and dryers, as well as 2,500 euros in cash, a mobile phone, SIM cards and other items relevant to the case.
