Officers from the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDBOP) identified and arrested the perpetrators of a serious crime—unlawful imprisonment, violence, and coercion to engage in sexual acts without consent—committed against a 20-year-old woman from Pazardzhik.
A 30-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were detained on July 10, 2026, upon their return to Bulgaria. Their detention has been extended by the Stara Zagora Regional Prosecutor's Office and the court.
Acting in complicity, the two abducted the victim from a roadway in February and informed her that she was required to engage in prostitution; subsequently, she was transported over an extended period to various locations in the cities of Pazardzhik, Sofia, and Stara Zagora.
The victim pleaded to be released, but instead, the two men subjected her to violence—tying her up with cables, beating her, and breaking her right arm.
The act was committed in a particularly cruel manner, and the offense is classified under Articles 159a, 131, and 129 of the Penal Code.
