25 Individuals Detained in Large-Scale Police Operation in Varna
Five suspects are employees of the "Primorski" district mayorship; investigation targets fraudulent legalization of real estate
A total of 25 individuals have been detained in connection with a specialized police operation that commenced yesterday in Varna. Among those apprehended are 5 employees of the "Primorski" district mayorship, while the remaining 20 are property owners. Investigators are verifying data regarding the unlawful legalization of these properties through the issuance of certificates of tolerability based on documents containing false information.
As part of the operation, search and seizure warrants were executed within the administrative premises of the "Primorski" district mayorship, as well as at residential addresses inhabited by the individuals under investigation.
The Ministry of Interior (MVR) and the Prosecutor's Office presented the initial results of the specialized police operation during a joint briefing featuring:
The Varna Regional Prosecutor's Office specified that the pre-trial proceedings are being conducted for a document-related crime under Article 311 of the Penal Code. The period under investigation spans from 2019 to 2023 and is linked to the fraudulent issuance of certificates of tolerability for residential buildings.
At present, one individual has been formally charged and detained under a prosecutor's order for up to 72 hours. This measure ensures the suspect's appearance in court for the filing of a motion requesting a permanent "remand in custody" order.
The investigative activities are being carried out following court-issued authorizations within the framework of pre-trial proceedings. The operational work continues under the strict leadership and supervision of the Varna Regional Prosecutor's Office, with the active participation of officials from GDBOP and ODMVR - Varna.
